Photograph of the "Heritage Wall" commission installed at the Lamond-Riggs/Lillian J. Huff Community Library. The image is predominantly red and inspired by a quilt showing illustrations of area residents.

This past week on June 27, 2023, the Lamond-Riggs/Lillian J. Huff Community Library, part of the DC Public Library system, celebrated its one-year anniversary since the renovation in 2022. Included in the celebration was the dedication of the “Heritage Wall” that I was commissioned to create, and my artist talk about the process.

Robert Oliver, president of the Lamond-Riggs/Lillian J. Huff Library Friends, wrote about the celebration here: https://nextstopriggspark.com/2023/06/30/one-year-anniversary-celebration-of-the-new-lamond-riggs-lillian-j-huff-library-pictures/

I feel honored to have been given the opportunity to create this work and am grateful to everyone who helped make it possible: from the volunteers to the participants of the project who contributed their photographs and fabric swatches. Below is the embedded artist talk.
