The series “Untitled (Invisible / Visible)” explores the fragmentation of the body that occurs within invisible systems of power. Marginalized people, such as women, people with disabilities, and people of color are often viewed as ‘parts’ and not a whole. This is demonstrated in the work “Untitled (Invisible / Visible) #3” which was directly inspired by misogynistic advertising from 1968 that referred to its team of women computer programmers as “16 legs” and “8 waggly tongues,” and was part of a systematic effort to push women out of the computer sciences.
